Pharmacology, Safety and Toxicology

Corsidus understands the importance of early safety assessments to enable a drug to advance in development. One third of failures in drug development are due to unacceptable toxicity levels.  It is critical that compounds undergo the most comprehensive yet targeted safety and toxicology studies early in development to identify any potential issues that may affect investment or development decisions.

Corsidus will guide you through the selection and design of these crucial in vitro and in vivo safety pharmacology and toxicology studies.  We will assist you in establishing appropriate measures to monitor and fully evaluate any potential adverse effects of your drug prior to embarking on larger scale and more costly preclinical studies.
Corsidus will assist you in selecting and conducting appropriate assays from the following pharmacology and toxicology studies:
In Vitro assays
Cytotoxicity Assay
Bacterial mutation (Ames)
Genotoxicity assessments
Metabolic profiling and parent drug stability
Hemolysis of red blood cells
hERG channel inhibition
Cardiac action potential assays
GLP safety studies in rodent and non-rodent species
Maximum tolerated dose
Repeat dose toxicology studies
Central nervous system studies
Assessment of effects on respiratory function
Full cardiovascular profiling in telemetered animals
